Ferguson Brown Sustainabilty worked closely with Ferguson Brown Engineers to provide a solution to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6 for residential units within a mix use site.
Sustainability Objectives
The site includes over 1 million square feet in a mix of residential, office, laboratory and storage buildings, leased on a long-term basis to QinetiQ and DSTL, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, a branch of the Ministry of Defence.
The development was designed to have carbon balance during its operation through the integration of a number of energy reduction, efficiency and renewable solutions.
The environmental impact of the building will be further reduced through sustainable site management practices. The ecology on the site will be maximised through the consideration of existing habitat and the provision of a green roof.
The project was shortlisted for the Mail on Sunday British Home Awards.
