Ferguson Brown Sustainability provided BREEAM assessment services to enable this East London student residence to achieve an ‘Excellent’ rating under the Multi Residential methodology.
Sustainability Objectives
The client was the main driver behind the requirement for the BREEAM
Excellent rating, and this was achieved through the following design aspects:
- High quality, convenient cycle provision and storage
- Over 20% of annual energy demand provided by a biomass boiler
- Green roof and terrace planting to ensure higher biodiversity on site than before development
- Advanced water saving irrigation system for planted areas
- High efficiency building fabric and services resulting in a 43% improvement over building regulation standard
